For the Summer 2019, Genius Patch will be focused on raising funds to donate 300 books written by participants in our Junior Storyteller Program to children throughout Detroit. The books each showcase main characters and young authors of color providing readers a diverse perspective. In the back of each book, the illustrations are repeated as coloring pages to give readers an interactive fun experience with the book. On the opposing pages, readers are given the opportunity to become writers in the spaces provided. Each of the Junior Storyteller Books was created to provide participants and readers of the books an opportunity to have a positive experience with literacy.
In addition, we would like to put a book in at least 200 backpacks for a giveaway partnership with our friends at TCC Gives. The TCC Backpack Giveaway will take place on Sunday July 21st from 1-4pm. Location: 29498 7 Mile Rd Livonia, MI 48152. Genius Patch’s Mrs. Ashlee will be there to read the Junior Storyteller Books and some of her own.
On September 7th, Genius Patch will host its 1st Annual Read and Play Field Day to celebrate National Literacy Day. More books will be given away at the event. Details are forthcoming.
Each book costs $20 (includes shipping and tax). Will you help us reach our goal?
With the help of caring contributors like you, our programming can be provided at costs to some of the most vulnerable and at risk children of our community. We utilize 100% of each contribution to provide world class programming that changes the lives of our attendees forever. Your generosity makes a big difference and for your kindness, we thank you.
Your gift makes it possible for children to have the programming they deserve!
